LOCATION: Cairns, Queensland, Australia
Some 65kms south of Cairns is an area known as Babinda Boulders.
It has been described as a ‘little slice of undiscovered heaven’ as it features beautiful waterfall & picturesque creeks.
It is also steeped in Aboriginal folklore with the local Yidinji tribe believing that the boulders were formed after a lover’s tryst.
Combining natural beauty with cultural legend makes for a place of interest & intrigue.
Vantage points down the creek are difficult to find & as the boulders are considered slippery & dangerous, climbing the fence is actively discouraged. I did however, manage to find this spot which provided me with a slightly different perspective, but remained faithful to the essence.
