I remember from my early childhood the rhyme – London Bridge is Falling Down… Falling Down… Falling Down.
Well, this London Bridge actually did fall down when the arch collapsed in 1990. Thousands of tonnes of limestone suddenly collapsed into the sea leaving 2 people marooned on the resulting island. They were later airlifted to safety.
Such erosive activity is commonplace along this stretch of coastline. While it might occupy the minds of the safety conscious, it does offer a series of evolving formations of much interest to the landscape photographer.
There is beauty in nature & we can see it all around us – if only we take the time to look.
