LOCATION: East Beach, Port Fairy, Victoria, Australia
If one were to mention that one was going out to photograph ‘groynes’ at Port Fairy, one could well expect quizzical looks. But photograph The Groynes I did.
East Beach has a history of shifting sand & erosion problems & in earlier times, four timber groynes were built in an attempt to stop the destruction. Over the years these structures have weathered & decayed to the point that their original purpose is now being questioned.
But with the sun colouring the horizon & the tide creating patterns on the sand, these structures still provide an unlikely point of interest.
